Wedding reception venue
When I found out that Manchester Art Gallery does weddings, I was pumped. This gorgeous spot is one of those places where, on my many years of travels around Manchester City Centre, I'd often stop into to look at the artwork, mooch around the (absolutely gorgeous) shop and generally take a little break from the hustle and bustle of the city streets. With it's chilled atmosphere, stunning architectural features and variety of equally wonderful gallery spaces, it's one of my favourite places in Manchester and a seriously brilliant wedding venue!
In January 2023 I was lucky enough to photograph the gorgeous Glen and Tom as part of a creative workshop, and, looking at the space through this new lens, I absolutely fell in love with the creative possibilities for wedding photography. Manchester Art Gallery has a selection of beautiful spaces for use throughout your wedding day. Ceremonies are held within Gallery 16, a bright and stylish space with walls adorned by Manchester greats such as L. S. Lowry and Adolphe Valette which can hold up to 100 guests. When it comes to your evening celebration, you're spoilt for choice with the Victorian Galleries, Atrium, Victorian Hall and Gallery Cafe all at your disposal. The largest of these, the galleries and atrium, can host upwards of 200 guests, meaning there's no need to compromise on that all important guest list.

The Gallery has a dedicated team of event planners to help guide you through the process of planning your big day, and the Gallery Cafe team will be on hand to ensure no-one goes hungry or thirsty (and use locally-sourced, sustainable ingredients - bonus).
The breathtaking artwork provides a sophisticated and interesting backdrop to your day, and there's always something new to look at with the ever-changing collections and exhibitions.
Photography at Manchester Art Gallery
It goes without saying that the interior of Manchester Art Gallery is absolutely bursting with photographic opportunities, from the traditional galleries to the modern atrium and impressive main stairwell, meaning you don't really have to even step outside the front door! However, with it's brilliant Manchester City Centre location, the opportunities for wedding photographs here are pretty much endless. In pretty much every direction you'll find epic skyscraper backdrops, super-cool urban side streets and elegant architecture such as Manchester Central Library. If you want an industrial feel to your photos, Manchester offers it in spades and is always bringing the effortless cool with graffiti and street art around every corner.
If you're happy to mooch a bit, Deansgate has some brilliant spots for couples portraits, including the gorgeous frontages of the main road's stunning buildings, colourful Deansgate locks and of course, the iconic Manchester Central Library.
Other facilities at Manchester Art Gallery
In terms of centrality and proximity to local amenities, wedding venues don't get much better than this! Situated on Mosley Street, the gallery is pretty much slap bang in the centre of the city. It's less than 5 minutes walk from St Peter's Square tram stop and around a 15 minute walk from all three of Manchester's major train stations. There are more hotels than you can shake a stick at in the direct vicinity too, meaning that there's the perfect option for every guest (and every budget) right on the venue's doorstep. Winner!

My style and approach
My approach to weddings is to capture authentic, real moments as they happen. My main focus as your wedding photographer is the people and relationships, capturing special moments between you, your friends and family during your wedding day. I’m always on the look out for the laughs, the hugs, the kisses and the private moments that no-one else sees! You might find me hiding behind doors, crouched in corners or photographing through windows to get that perfect shot - I have been called a ‘ninja photographer’ on more than one occasion!
Creating a meaningful connection with you and your loved ones is hugely important in creating beautiful storytelling images, and I always aim to feel more like a friend and supporter than a supplier.
My unique style will provide you with beautiful wedding photographs that preserve the excitement, emotions and memories of your wedding day, and through my unobtrusive style, I will capture the story of your day naturally as it unfolds, leaving you with fun, relaxed and beautiful images that you will treasure forever.
