This June barn wedding at Alcumlow Wedding Barn featured a corker of a couple at a corker of a wedding venue! Jenna and Alex tied the knot surrounded by their loved ones at this truly unique wedding venue on under a bright blue sky and sunshine in June 2023.

Nestled in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, Alcumlow Wedding Barn is a wedding venue that really does have it all. Jenna and her loved ones got ready for their celebrations in the on-site suite, situated on the venue's gorgeous traditional courtyard. With a bright and spacious prep area upstairs and the perfect space for getting dressed on the ground floor, Alcumlow Wedding Barn provides the perfect relaxed area for couples to prepare for their big day. What made it even lovelier was the fact that bride Jenna was not only joined by her bridal party, but also had friends and family coming in and out all morning as they arrived, helping her get ready, doling out loving hugs and kisses, stopping off for photographs and providing last nuggets of advice and reassurance. The morning had such a warm, loving atmosphere that set the perfect tone for the rest of the day. Personal moments like these are some of my absolute favourite to capture!

A beautiful Cheshire wedding venue

Situated on Alcumlow Hall Farm, this wedding venue in rural Cheshire plays host to a number of small businesses as well as the wedding venue, and as I drove up through the grounds there were families excitedly scurrying towards the popular Snugbury's ice cream parlour to secure a tasty cold treat to help them cool off in the early summer sunshine. The fact that parts of this venue are open to the general public gives it a real buzz of activity, something that I really love and feel adds to the excitement of any wedding day.

The wedding area itself, however, has the benefit of privacy, being situated behind a beautiful ethereal-looking wooden gate. As you pass through the gate, you enter a spacious courtyard area perfect for pre- and post-ceremony drinks, with the traditional dutch barn just to your left. As you head through the courtyard and round to the back of the barn, you're greeted with what may be an unexpected site if you've never visited Alcumlow Wedding Barn before- a large, modern white metal house that contrasts brilliantly with the rustic barn. It's hard to describe the white house so I won't try - I'll let the photos do the talking! (Also, if you're a lover of a barn wedding I highly recommend you check out El & Liv's Beverley Barn wedding and Lucy & Graham's gorgeous autumn wedding day at Sandhole Oak Barn!)

A rustic Cheshire wedding ceremony

With the weather being so wonderful, Jenna and Alex were lucky enough to have their wedding ceremony outside in the white house. Jenna was preceded down the aisle by two of the cutest flower girls and her bridesmaids, who brought a summery vibe with sunflower details which were echoed throughout the decor of the venue. The bride was escorted down the aisle by her dad - check out the excited faces as they meet groom Alex at the altar! With readings from loved ones, personal vows and thoughtful music choices, the ceremony was full of personal touches and was such a beautiful moment.

The post-wedding ceremony drinks reception took place in the courtyard outside the beautiful barn doors, with drinks being served from the cutest little VW camper bar! The whole team at Alcumlow were wonderful and couldn't do enough for Jenna, Alex and their wedding guests and with the legal bit completed, drinks flowed and a warm relaxed atmosphere filled the venue.

As this special day meandered towards the wedding breakfast, the wedding party moved inside to the stunningly decorated barn space. The wedding barn really does have an amazing effect when it's decorated, with fairy lights inside criss-crossed across the barn roof and dramatic wooden seats for the couple to sit at during their meal. Guests were kept thoroughly entertained by speeches that were both hilarious and heartfelt, and enjoyed a delicious three course meal.

Bride and groom wedding portraits

With it being such a bright and warm June day, Jenna, Alex and I decided to leave their couples' portraits until after their wedding breakfast when the majority of the heat had burned away and the sun was lower in the sky, giving the most divine golden sunset. One of my favourite things about Alcumlow Wedding Barn and Alcumlow Hall Farm is the abundance of opportunities for couples' photos! The barn itself is, of course, stunning, and there are open expanses of fields to make use of too. The bride, groom and I were shown through a set of gates to the back of the venue where there's a magical hidden lake complete with wooden jetty, the perfect spot for natural photographs and a relaxed vibe. Just when I thought we'd maxed out the venue's portrait potential, we were led through yet another gate in a stunning mediterranean style walled courtyard where the sun was just hitting so perfectly. This awesome space was also home to a full pizza kitchen which was fired up for evening food later in the reception. Genius! Honestly, any wedding photographer would be spoilt for choice at this brilliant venue!

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the bride and groom's evening guests arrived for their wedding reception. With the air still warm, the barn doors stood open and the sounds of laughter and music spilled throughout this beautiful country wedding venue. A dance floor was set up in the middle of the barn with hay bales around the edges, adding to the rustic vibes, and friends and family celebrated Jenna and Alex's marriage by dancing the night away - the perfect end to a truly beautiful day.

Thank you Jenna and Alex for trusting me to be such an integral part of this great day!

Is Alcumlow Wedding Barn dog friendly?

Alcumlow Wedding Barn is a dog friendly venue, and there's ample space for furry friends to stretch their legs and run around throughout your wedding day. Weddings with dogs are one of my favourite things to photograph so if you're getting wed here and looking for an Alcumlow barn wedding photographer - hit me up!

How many people can we fit in at Alcumlow wedding barn?

The venue can accommodate up to 100 people for wedding ceremonies and blessings, with space for up to 180 for the wedding reception.

Is Alcumlow wedding barn an exclusive use venue?

It sure is! Once you're behind the gates and in the barn itself, the venue is exclusive use and separated from the general public. The business owners shut up shop in the late afternoon too, so the entire site is yours for the evening!

Can we get married outside at Alcumlow Wedding Barn?

Yup - the stunning and modern white house structure allows for outdoor wedding ceremonies.

We'd like to have a church ceremony - are there any churches near to Alcumlow Wedding Barn?

If you're looking for a Church of England religious ceremony, there are several churches in the local area. A couple of notable local churches are the beautiful St Mary's on Astbury Green and the fairytale St. John Baptist Church in the heart of Smallwood.

Where can couples and guests stay if we get married at Alcumlow Wedding Barn?

Whilst there isn't any accommodation on site for Alcumlow Hall farm weddings, the surrounding area has an abundance of beautiful options for you and your guests to take advantage of. My personal favourite is Drift Barn Cottages, a gorgeous run of private cottages set in a traditional countryside courtyard with ample parking and lots of space for your nearest and dearest. Groom Alex got ready here with his dad and groomsmen, and the cottages are beautiful, modern and clean with all the amenities you could need. There is also Alexandra Court Hotel just 2.5 miles away from the barn, and the Lamb Inn Guesthouse down the road in Congleton.

Where can we have our couples' portraits taken at Alcumlow Wedding Barn?

As previously mentioned, the portrait potential at Alcumlow hall farm wedding barn is enormous. Great spots for your wedding photographs include, of course, the barn itself, as well as the sweeping driveway, surrounding fields, multiple courtyards, the white house and the lake and jetty. If that's not enough, you could even venture away from the rustic wedding venue to some of the local attractions, including the atmospheric Mow Cop Castle which is visible from Alcumlow Wedding Barn and is just a 9-minute drive away.
