Kelham Island Museum Wedding Photography

A couple are half in sun and shade during wedding photos.

You know when you meet someone and just kinda.. click?

Well that's how I felt when I met the brilliant Lucy and Tim. I was lucky enough to photograph their awesome Kelham Island Museum wedding, and on a bright sunny Sheffield morning I headed to this unique and striking wedding venue to capture their day.

Kelham Island Museum is a bloody brilliant place to have a wedding; crammed with unique features too plentiful to list, cobbled roads, industrial gems and topped off with its Sheffield city centre location. Nestled on the bank of the River Don, the museum is a 'striking Victorian landmark which stands on a manmade island over 900 years old'. I mean, it doesn't get much cooler than that.

I met Tim and the couples' friends and family first thing at the on-site pub (yep, Kelham Island has its own pub too) and immediately knew this was a group I'd fit right in with. As guests continued to arrive, there was a super relaxed atmosphere, with lots of laughter, fun and smiles all round - a joy to take photos of! The bride soon arrived, looking absolutely stunning and flanked by bridesmaids in a sensational array of perfect autumnal tones, their beautiful outfits complete with rich and vibrant flowers.

Wedding ceremony at Kelham Island Museum

The wedding ceremony itself took place in the intimate Crucible Workshop, located just down the cobbled street and complete with its own sun-drenched courtyard where the drinks reception took place. After a quick make up touch up from Lucy's bridal squad, the happy couple and I headed off into the winter sunshine to make full use of the super cool urban surroundings for their couples portraits.

As the afternoon progressed, the atmosphere just got better and better. I was treated like absolute royalty by the fantastic team at Kelham Island, including the wonderful catering team who made sure I was so full of lasagne I could barely move! The speeches were some of the best I've heard (including a by-heart rendition of the infamous 'Bridesmaids' engagement party speech which I found particularly impressive) and as the DJ began, shoes came off, shapes were thrown into the night and a great time was had by all.

Thank you so much Lucy and Tim for trusting me with your wedding photography on your perfect, brilliant, vibrant wedding day!
